This is a modern version of the ballet Swan Lake, about two teens in a housing project. It is a mix of "poem, rap and rhapsody". The paintings are "collage-on-cinder-block". I felt like it was easy to read for an adult and would compare it to Shakespeare in nature and story-line. This would certainly be for upper elementary students and older. There is mention of a knife and a gun in a fight to save Odette. However, no one is murdered, only injured, which fortunately ends better than most real-life stories of today from the inner city.
